Back From Queenstown

We are back from the Southern Alps! What a great time. We had an awesome house full of great people. The first day Kelly and Micah went skiing at Coronet Peak while the others visited an old gold mining town called Arrowtown. We then picked up the skiers and started a good night on the town. Day two brought jet-boating down the shot-over river canyon. That was an amazing experience. Day three was our last day in Queenstown, but ended with Micah jumping off the world's first commercial Bungee Jump!

I will post pictures directly. There is a rather long video of Micah's Bungee Jump, but it is too big to post online. Please send one blank CD and an SASE...expect a return in about 3 months.

Glad you all survived the Southern Alps! Our only question is whether Micah is still the same height. We're especially concerned that he might be shorter - a result of miscalculated bungee length. We're anxious for pictures!

How wet & cold did you get on the Shotover? Stops quickly doesn't it. Arrowtown was one of my favorite places. We never tried the Bungee. (David, I think you would get longer rather than shorter. It's a long way to the bottom of the canyon.) Did you get to Mt Cook on the way? Glad you are having a good time, wish we were there, Tom and Pat in MB (waiting for pictures)

We stopped at Lake Tekepo and could see Mt. Cook quite clearly. We gambled a bit and decided to try and make the journey on the way back, but the weather was really bad. We had a great view of The Remarkables from the house and got to go up Coronet Peak. Arrowtown was definitely a highlight and the shotover was pretty cold and wet (we let the ladies sit on the inside and they were much warmer). All of it was an incredible experience.

Some pictures are up by now. I will get more posted during the aftermath.
