Today is ANZAC Day! (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) It is basically New Zealand's Veteran's Day, a public holiday in Australia and New Zealand on the 25th of April every year to commemorate the landing at Gallipoli. It is a paid holiday for everyone! We will be enjoying a little quiet time remembering the fallen kiwis.

How much did you guys pay for your plane tickets to N.Z.? We're looking at close to $2000. That can't be right!!??!!
We found some for quite a bit less and emailed you the details. Air New Zealand is definitely the way to go.
Hey Guys!
I've just been catching up on your adventure. I met with Abby today and gave her your blog so that they could look you up when they are in your part of the world next month. Bummer about the beer joint, but with Andy's wit and charm I'm sure he'll have something soon! I've got a couple of Westies I could ship you to train! Your salon looks wonderful. Guess there aren't any bad hair day worries for you! Here's some VB scoop...K Eagle is closing, actually the signs say "liquidating"!Anyway.....everyone ask about you guys all the time and we miss you everyday!
Looking good! You're doing a great job with the blog - especially all the pix.
Some comments:
Love the Museum steps
What's up with the giant bunny-rabbit?
Didn't know they had cable cars in CHCR!
The Bicycle Thief looks cool - first entry in the Send a Tee Shirt Home contest.
I love Sol Art#1 - the tightrope guy!
hi, ia am learning this blog business.was at gallipoli last spring with dieter and was very touched by the commemoration by the Turkish gov to the mothers of the soldiers. you all look great and the info is wonderful. i am getting a real insight into life in new zealand. petra
I'm going to reply to these in order:
Barbara - We heard about K Eagle, and the Fountain Room is closed! We had our party just in time.
Huckses - The bunny rabbit is an exhibit at the CHCH Art Gallery that appears to just be an inflatable dead bunny. We didn't see an explanation plaque, but I'll ask the art history girl. Not really a cable car, we call it the tram...it does a short circuit around the town center. No t-shirts at the Bicycle Thief, they are way too cool for that. Maybe an all-blacks (national rugby team) shirt.
Petra - Glad you are learning the blogging routine. It saves us a lot of time emailing individual people, so we can spend it taking pictures and leaving very clever comments. New Zealand is a wonderful place, we are glad to share it with everyone.
